Originally named for what was the main intersection in the fledgling city of La Crosse in what is believed to be the early 1900’s. An Arterial was a common term used for the major thorough fares of young growing towns. The Arterial has been a family owned La Crosse tradition for over 100 years, dating back to pre-prohibition. Historians recall The Arterial being a tavern before prohibition and a general store, seamstress shop, and more during the dry years. From post prohibition through today, The Arterial has operated as La Crosse’s favorite local bar and grill.
