Vegan Options at WingStop

Globally, there has been a rise in the number of vegan people who either follow a vegan diet which means no animal products, or who reduce the number of animal products they eat. This is in part because of well-known reasons like better health, sustainability, and general concern for animals. It has also become more than just an ethical thing to do but also a lifestyle choice with many people including vegans in their social circle.

Now restaurants like Winstop have capitalized on this trend to become a success. Social media is filled with happy customers with their Wingstop dishes which are available in most major cities, including Los Angeles, California where founder Andy Rubin started the company after noticing that there were not many dining options for vegans.

About Wingstop

Wingstop has been a known American chicken wing restaurant for several years. Since it was founded in 1994 by Antonio Swad and Peacock King, it has grown to be one of the leading chicken wing restaurants with more than 1,000 locations in countries like Mexico, UAE, Thailand, etc. They have had some locations in the GCC states but not to the extent of UAE and Qatar.

As previously stated, this restaurant was founded in 1994 by Antonio Swad and Peacock King. The two were childhood friends who met in El Paso, Texas when they began to sell their homemade flavored chicken wings together. A year later in 1995, they opened the first Wingstop store in Dallas with 50 seats. As luck would have it, one of the first customers was none other than Troy Aikman, an NFL player who at the time played for Dallas Cowboys. Aikman went on to become one of Wingstop’s main shareholders and endorsers along with David Buehler, another NFL player who spans several teams including the Washington Redskins. Currently, it is said that he has two stores in Dallas.

Everything Vegan at Wingstop (2023)

Wingstop is known for its wings with several different flavors of sauces which include Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, and Hawaiian. The last two are also available as “Boneless” or without the bone making it easier for vegan customers to enjoy the meal on their own.

Everything Vegan at WINGSTOP

Other than the boneless wings, Wingstop also offers French fries and jalapeno cheese poppers. Furthermore, they will be introducing new menu items soon. The current vegan options are only limited to sauces, but according to published sources, this is because there are strict rules surrounding water usage in kitchens for health reasons. However, all the new items will be made in an entirely new dedicated kitchen which puts Wingstop on the list of restaurants that are 100% dedicated to veganism.

Vegan Menu Options at Wingstop:

Their vegan menu has become available in early 2021. This is great news for vegan customers who are looking for restaurants that offer more than just the usual options of either fries or salads. It also helps when there are specific dedicated vegan kitchens so not all vegan items will carry the risk of cross-contamination with animal products.

Wingstop has attempted to create a vegan-friendly menu in response to the growing demand for vegan options. Although it does not appear that there is a dedicated vegan menu, the options are available at all Wingstop locations.

Currently, the following items are vegan-friendly:

  • Seasoned Fries

Conclusion

The future of Wingstop looks bright with more vegan options on the way. One of the main problems that they are currently experiencing is that not all locations carry different items, so it can be difficult for some customers to enjoy some of their favorite flavors while traveling to other parts of the country. With new menu items and dedicated vegan kitchens, Wingstop goes two steps forward by catering to the growing vegan market and keeping their loyal customers happy with good food.
