If you’re a vegan, you know that it can be tough to find restaurants that cater to your dietary restrictions. But Pollo Tropical is changing all that with its upcoming all-vegan menu! The new menu will feature delicious vegan dishes like black beans and rice, plantains, and tropical salad in 2023. And if you can’t wait that long, don’t worry – many of our existing menu items are already vegan-friendly. Just ask your server for help finding the right dishes. We can’t wait to see you at Pollo Tropical soon!
Pollo Tropical does not sell any meat substitutes, they don’t do it that way. However, you will discover a plethora of Latin-American influenced vegan goods, such as beans and rice, plantains, corn, and other types of cooked potatoes.

Vegan Main Courses at Pollo Tropical:
- Build-Your-Own Tropichop Bowl
- Vegan Picadillo Wrap (widely available)
- Other Vegan items (Varies by location, but they specify vegan so it’s obvious)
While it’s possible to order a Full-Size Caesar Salad without cheese, croutons, or meat, lettuce is the only real vegan component. I wouldn’t call the Burrito-bowl “Tropichop” a genuine vegan main dish since there isn’t much else in it. The Picadillo Wrap is a vegan-friendly option that you can order with black beans, rice and plantains.
And if you’re looking for sides, the Beans & Rice are vegan as well as the Sweet Corn Cob. Just be sure to ask your waiter which dishes on the menu are vegan so that there are no surprises when the food comes to your table.
You may use whatever of the sides from the Tropichop bowl in it: White Rice, Yellow Rice & Veg, Brown RIce, Romaine Lettuce, Black Beans, Diced Tomatoes, Kernel Corn (without butter), and Sauteed Onions. I’d definitely recommend checking out and adding into your TropiChop bowl the Sauteed Onions, which are sautéed in orange juice and lemon zest.

It’s great that not only are the necessities for a decent dinner provided, such as black beans and rice, but they also have vegan side dishes like baked potatoes and even vegan bread! While you’re at it, make sure to check out Pollo Tropical’s salsa selection in the condiments area. They all seem to be vegan-friendly, but be sure to double-check.

Vegan Dressings, Toppings, and Sauces at Pollo Tropical:
Pollo Tropical has a bunch of sauces, toppings, and dressings that are vegan-friendly.
There are two vegan-friendly sauces at Pollo Tropical: the Garlic Sauce and the Cilantro Sauce. The majority of their dressings are also vegan, such as the Balsamic Vinaigrette, Honey Mustard Dressing, Italian Dressing, and Raspberry Vinaigrette. You can also order your food without any. They also include:
- Fresh Salsasa
- Garlic Sauce (Mojo)
- BBQ Sauce
- Guava BBQ Sauce
- Spicy Po-Po Sauce
- Pineapple Rum Sauce
- Diced Onions & Jalapeno Slices
- Sauteed Onions & Jalapenos
- Diced Tomatoes
- Kernel Corn (Specify no butter)
The greens in this salad don’t have the same appeal as those from my previous salads, but I’m not sure it’s for a lack of nutritional value. They’re still quite good, and there are several add-ins that will improve any salad; however, they just aren’t as flavorful or interesting to me. I wouldn’t use these ingredients in a salad, but I would definitely use them in other recipes.

Pollo Tropical has always been a favorite of mine. The food is delicious and the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated with tropical plants, flowers, and handcrafted decorations that make you feel like you’re on vacation – but now they’ve added vegan options!
I don’t think it’s possible to visit this place without being tempted by one their many yummy dishes (or maybe even two), so if you are feeling adventurous or just want something different for your next meal out, stop in at your nearest Pollo Tropcial for some seriously good eats.
